On October 29th, the opening ceremony of the Master’s Degree in "Global Food Law: Sustainability Challenges and Innovation" took place at the "Aula Filosofi" with great public success.
The ceremony was introduced by the Rector, Professor Paolo Martelli, Professor Giovanni Francesco Basini, Director of the Department of Law, Political and International Studies, and Professor Lucia Scaffardi, Scientific Coordinator of the Food For Future project. During their presentations they spoke about the crucial importance of the path taken for the creation of the Master’s degree course and the strategic value that the agri-food sector has for the University was emphasized.
The keynote speech, entitled "Interactions between climate and the agri-food systems: global challenges", was given to Prof. Riccardo Valentini, Nobel Peace Prize winner as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). His speech presented recent studies on climate change and introduced the challenges and opportunities of the agro-economic sector at global and local level.
Finally, the members of the Advisory Board of the project: Prof. Aeyal Gross (Tel Aviv University), Prof. Sumantra Ray (University of Cambridge) Prof. Pier Luigi Petrillo (Unitelma Sapienza University) and Dott.ssa Michela Petronio (Barilla Group) shared messages of inspiration and motivation for students, underlining the importance of research and training to address future challenges in the field of food law and sustainability.
