The Department of Law, Politics and International Studies and the Centre for Studies in European and International Affairs (CSEIA) announce the organization, in collaboration with Albany Law School (Albany, New York), of the Summer School entitled “Contemporary Security and Sustainability Challenges in the International and EU Legal Framework: A Focus on Climate Change and Food”.
Now in its fourth edition, the Summer School will take place from 25 May to 22 June 2026. All activities will be held in Parma.
The initiative aims to provide an interdisciplinary analysis of major contemporary challenges related to security and sustainability, with particular attention to the international and EU legal aspects concerning climate change and food systems.
The lectures, delivered in English, will be given by professors and experts from diverse academic and institutional backgrounds, at both national and international levels. Building on the topics discussed in class, students will also participate in workshop activities dedicated to simulating international negotiations.
Participation in the Summer School also includes:
- an institutional visit to the headquarters of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA);
- a visit to the DAVINES group.
The program is open to students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Law, the Master’s Degree in Global Food Law, and the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Political Science at the University of Parma, as well as to students from Albany Law School.
The Summer School may be included in the study plan as a substitute for an elective course. Students who attend at least 70% of the scheduled activities will receive a certificate of participation and, upon passing a final exam, will earn 6 international curricular credits. Enrollment is free of charge.
To participate, students must register by completing the following form by 20 March 2026, uploading their curriculum vitae. Registrations are limited to a maximum of 25 participants. If the number of applicants exceeds the maximum, participants will be selected based on their curriculum vitae. A good command of English is recommended.
