As part of the measures adopted to support and enhance services and initiatives for students, the University of Parma has launched an initiative to tackle academic disorientation, called the Adopt a New Student Tutor (Code A2) and the initiative to support teaching, known as Tutor for difficult exams (Code B1).

‘Adopt a new student’ tutor’

Tutors provide academic, organisational and social support, helping new students to settle into university life and encouraging them to make the most of the resources offered by their degree programme and the university.

The tutors ‘adopting a new student’ for the 2025/2026 academic year are:

Tutor for ‘tough exams’

The scheme is designed to specifically tackle the issue of ‘sticking-point course units’ – that is, those course units which, statistically speaking, significantly hinder students’ normal academic progress, leading to delays in their studies, dropouts or having to repeat a year.
The tutoring programme is run by PhD students.

As well as providing general support, the tutoring is specifically geared towards targeted preparation on the content, methodological and organisational aspects that have proved particularly challenging for the majority of students. The tutors work in coordination with the professors responsible for the course unit, whilst respecting academic autonomy, to support students effectively, without taking the place of the professor but by facilitating learning.

The ‘tough exam’ tutors for the 2025/2026 academic year have completed their duties.
