On February 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the second online session of the seminar series The Right to Food in Places of Detention. Between Law and Society. The Prison Issue, promoted by the Department of Law, Politics and International Studies and organized as part of the activities of Groups 3 and 4 of the “Food for Future” Excellence Department project, will be held.

The seminar, entitled Living and Surviving: Food Provision and Extra Food in the Penitentiary System, will be introduced by Prof. Veronica Valenti and will feature contributions from Dr. Gaia Messori (University of Parma), Dr. Roberto Cavalieri (Regional Ombudsperson for the Rights of Persons Deprived of Personal Liberty, Emilia-Romagna Region), Dr. Antonino Carlo (Judge of the Court of Auditors – Regional Audit Section for Emilia-Romagna), and Dr. Gabriella Stramaccioni (former Ombudsperson for the Rights of Persons Deprived of Personal Liberty for the Municipality of Rome).

Please note that the seminar series is open to both students and professionals. In particular, students enrolled in the Department’s degree programs who attend all seminars may request recognition of 3 extracurricular CFU credits.
The series has also been accredited by the Bar Association of Parma (2 training credits per seminar and 10 credits for attendance of the full series) and by OASER (6 training credits and 2 credits in professional ethics/professional regulations).
