Parma, June 10, 2025 – The awarding ceremony for the research grant “Regulatory Challenges in Plastics” was held in recent days. The grant was established by the Department of Law, Politics, and International Studies at the University of Parma, in collaboration with Inner Wheel Parma Est. Valued at €3,000, the grant was awarded to Eleonora Di Matteo.

The grant is part of the academic project “Food for Future” – Department of Excellence 2023–2027 – and is specifically linked to the degree program “Global Food Law: Sustainability Challenges and Innovation.” The research project critically examines national and supranational regulations and policies regarding plastics in the food sector, with particular focus on sustainability and consumer health protection.

During the ceremony, held at the Inner Wheel Parma Est headquarters on Strada della Repubblica, Eleonora Di Matteo, the grant recipient, gave a presentation on the regulatory framework for food contact materials, known as FCMs (Materials and Objects in Contact with Food).

Official remarks were delivered by Giovanni Francesco Basini, Director of the Department of Law, Politics, and International Studies at the University of Parma, and Roberta Rabaglia Vaienti, President of Inner Wheel Parma Est.

Also speaking at the event were Mina Traclò Iannello, former President of Inner Wheel Parma Est, and Lucia Scaffardi, Scientific Coordinator of the “Food for Future” project.
