Position Title: Intern, Migration and Development Unit (2 positions)
Duty Station: Rome, Italy
Type of Appointment: Internship
Duration of Assignment: Six months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the United Nations related organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordinating Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta and Representative to the Holy See, and the direct supervision of the “Diaspora Engagement and Mainstreaming Migration Focal Point” and of the “Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion Focal Point” the interns will assist in providing support to the Migration and Development Unit in accordance with the IOM policy and procedures.
General Functions:
• Provide assistance in the organization of meetings, trainings and events;
• Assist with the preparation and translation of project documents and reports;
• Support the fulfillment of administrative, procurement and logistics procedures;
• Support the coordination with relevant actors and key stakeholders;
• Attend internal meetings related to IOM's M&D activities;
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
Education:
• Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in one of the following fields: Political Science, Development Studies, International Cooperation, International Relation, Social Studies, Migration Studies, Economy;
or
• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in one of the following fields: Political Science, Development Studies, International Cooperation, International Relation, Social Studies, Migration Studies, Economy;
or
• Have graduated with one of the above university degrees after June 2019.

Experience:
• Previous experience in one of the following fields is desirable: administration, organization of trainings or events, project implementation support
Languages:
Proficiency in Italian and English (both spoken and written)
Working knowledge of French (both spoken and written)
Notes:
The internship is subject to local recruitment. Only persons holding a valid residence and work permit for Italy will be eligible for consideration.
